The Story Behind the Work
Jennifer Caputo is a recently retired public school teacher of 25 years, Sussex County Teacher of the Year, and NJ State Teacher of the Year Finalist. She has spent her career bringing mindfulness, movement, and nervous system awareness into classrooms, while quietly navigating her own season of burnout.
Her work lives at the intersection of science and lived experience - informed by research, shaped by personal healing.
Maybe you’ve felt it too…
When your body says, “Slow down,” but your brain says, “Keep going.”
I remember it vividly... standing in my kitchen, heart racing, shoulders tight, breath shallow, staring at a calendar with no white space. I kept telling myself, “Just get through today.”
The problem was… I’d been “just getting through today” for far too long.
My body began to whisper - fatigue, tightness, snapping at loved ones. Then it begged - brain fog, exhaustion, leaving school in an ambulance.
I didn’t stop.
Until my body stopped me.
With a cancer diagnosis that changed everything.
In that moment, I realized: this stress wasn’t all in my head. It was in my system.
That realization became the heart of her mission: wellness has to be practical. Practical for real life. Practical for real classrooms. Practical for teachers navigating post-COVID education - the emotional load, the behavior shifts, the constant pivots.
This work is not about doing more. It’s not about adding another strategy or another expectation.
It’s about learning how to exhale inside the life you’re already living.
Through her workshops, speaking, and educator communities, Jennifer creates spaces where teachers can slow down and regulate inside the reality of modern classrooms. Her work blends science and lived experience to offer practical tools that reduce stress in real time, so educators can teach without sacrificing their health.
This 10-month space is for educators who are done surviving the school year.
